The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead5/13/2023 ![]() Like I said, the world around me was gone. I don’t know how long we stood there kissing. In that moment, it seemed that as long as Adrian and I were together, there was no challenge too great for us. Maybe Marcus was right that I’d also signed myself up for disaster, but I didn’t care. ![]() My partner in crime, in the long battle I’d just signed on for to right the wrongs in the Alchemist and Moroi worlds. All that mattered was that he was Adrian, my Adrian. ![]() I didn’t care that we were out in public. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer. I no longer had any doubt about whether this was wrong or right. ![]() Kissing him was as mind-blowing as ever, full of that same passion and need I had never believed I’d feel. No, the world became Adrian, only Adrian. Like always, the world around me stopped moving. “Adrian tipped my face up toward his and kissed me. ![]()

Calvin and hobbes by bill watterson5/13/2023 ![]() ![]() This long tail of comics may allow creators more diversity and more control, but Watterson worries that without mass media distribution comics "will have less widespread cultural impact and make a lot less money" - that it will be difficult to create more comics like Calvin & Hobbes, which become cultural touchstones because they are read by all, not merely a small, devoted audience.Ī fuller version of the interview will be published in the December issue of Mental Floss magazine. This is the first collection of the classic comic strip that features Calvin, a rambunctious 6-year-old boy, and his stuffed tiger, Hobbes, who comes charmingly. But as Watterson notes, this can also atomize the audience from national to niche, while the comics pages of newspapers are still shrinking (and newspapers aren't faring so well themselves). ![]() ![]() ![]() While the notion of Bill Watterson being replaced by anyone on Calvin & Hobbes is blasphemy to fans of the strip, the experience he describes offers an interesting contrast to the landscape of comics today, where it's far easier for webcartoonists with a wide variety of styles and stories to find their own niche audience without the help of a syndicate. An original comedy series for kids about a dog and a cat with dueling podcasts. ![]() Snow falling by jane5/13/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then, a figure from her past reemerges to change her life the hotel’s dapper owner, railroad tycoon Rake Solvino. There is much in this story that captivated me: from the true-to-life characters and the struggles and challenges they faced to the amazing descriptions of the era with historical details woven within the story-line. Breathing in and captivated by its beauty, the dangers and romance of this historic era, we face the challenges, dangers, love and faith along with the characters as we turn each page. Laura Frantz sweeps the reader away from present-day back-in-time and history to the frontier of 1777 along the Shawnee River in this sweeping story. ![]() But there is hope and restoration, love and faith that will bring them through. ![]() It is wrought with dangers, Indian ambushes, questionable loyalties and grief. Their path is not a smooth one, far from it. I enjoyed watching this unlikely pair as they became aware of their growing feelings toward one another. ![]() Handsome Sion Morgan is a determined and strong man and perfect for Tempe. Typically, King is much better at the minutiae and sensations of a specific physical world, and several such bravura sequences (from an attack by mutant lobsters to a gun store robbery) are standouts amid the characteristic headlong storytelling. Roland enters three lives in the alternate world of New York City: junkie and drug runner Eddie Dean, schizophrenic heiress Odetta Holmes and serial murder Jack Mort. Elaborating at great length on Robert Browning's cryptic narrative poem ``Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came,'' the second volume of King's post-Armageddon epic fantasy presents the equally enigmatic quest of Roland, the world's last gunslinger, who moves through an apocalyptic wasteland toward the Dark Tower, ``the linchpin that holds all of existence together.'' Although these minor but revealing books (which King began while still in college) are full of such adolescent portentousness, this is livelier than the first. ![]() Moneyball art5/13/2023 ![]() ![]() Moneyball is a quest for the secret of success in baseball.
